Barrington Soccer Academy
Barrington Youth
Soccer ‘s Youth Academy
Designed for players with a desire to improve their skills and knowledge, the academy is
open to motivated players in the U8, U9, U10 & U12 age levels
who anticipate playing travel soccer. New for 2009-2010 is our move to the newly renovated Sherwood Soccer Complex which feature turf fields for the "feel of playing on grass".
Purpose
For
many years soccer clubs around the world have used
academy programs to develop their future players. By overseeing
player development at the younger ages clubs are able
to ensure the quality and effectiveness of a player’s
training. The Barrington Soccer Club has established
an academy to provide motivated players in the U8, U9, U10 and U12 age levels (8/1/97 - 7/31/2003) with a high quality development program
that will hone their technical skills and prepare them
to play competitive soccer at the club level. It
is anticipated that most, if not all, players who participate
in the academy will go on to play for Barrington Soccer
Club or other travel club programs.
Philosophy
Soccer
is a team game that places great demands on each player’s
skills. Developing those individual skills in young
players is the primary goal of the academy. Professional
soccer coaches know that the ages 8 to 11 are the most
impressionable. This is the critical time to focus
on developing good habits and proper technique. Only
when basic ball skills are mastered and comfort with
the ball under pressure is achieved will a player release
his/her potential.
Approach
The
academy’s
approach is to move players successfully along a player
development continuum using structured lesson plans and
small-sided games in a fun, but focused, environment. Our
coaching staff includes only soccer professionals. All
coaches involved in the academy are advanced licensed
coaches with years of experience coaching and developing
youth players.
