Barrington Soccer Club (BSC)
The Barrington Youth Soccer Assocation (BYSA) aims to help as many individuals as possible play travel soccer in a challenging, age-appropriate environment. With the guidance of Alex Green, Head of Youth Development, the club is committed to providing professional, licensed coaches for our travel teams. We participate in the Rhode Island SuperLiga as the Barrington Soccer Club (BSC) and players from other communities are welcome to try-out. A ll of our teams travel throughout Rhode Island and may compete in tournaments in adjacent states.
Year-Round Travel Soccer
The year-round program is intended for motivated and dedicated U10, U11/U12 and U13/U14 players. Try-outs are held near the end of the school year. Teams are comprised of players of similar ability that remain together through the fall Superliga season, indoor winter training and the spring Superliga season. Players and their families are asked to sign a contract indicating the level of commitment and participation expected from those selected for these teams.
Fall Travel Soccer
BSC also offers fall-only travel soccer for U10, U11/U12 & U13/U14 players who are not involved with the year-round program. Try-outs for these squads are held at the same time as Year Round, and players are grouped with others of similar ability. The number of teams from each age group that BYSA enters in the fall SuperLiga depends upon the demand demonstrated by tryout participation.
Spring Travel Soccer
BSC also offers spring-only travel soccer for U9/U10, U11/U12 & U13/U14 players who are not involved with the year-round program. Try-outs for these squads are held in the fall, and players are grouped with others of similar ability. The number of teams from each age group that BYSA enters in the spring SuperLiga depends upon the demand demonstrated by tryout participation.
Rhode Island SuperLiga
All BSC teams partcipate in the RI SuperLiga, a youth based soccer league. All SuperLiga games are generally held on Saturdays and/or Sundays in the fall and spring. All teams will practice 2 times a week. SuperLiga is made up of different divisions and teams will be placed by our Head of Youth Development in the appropriate divisions, usually after discussions with the coaching staff.
There are certain additional rostering rules within SuperLiga, that governs BSC, including how many premier players can be rostered on a given SuperLiga team based on division placement. There is also a 3 town rule which allows no more than 3 different towns to be represented on one single team. For further information regarding SuperLiga rules, schedules, league standings, and driving directions visit the SuperLiga website.
Barrington Soccer Club is proud to employ some of the top professionally licensed coaches in all of Southern New England. Where BYSA utilizes many wonderful parent volunteer coaches at the recreational level, BSC's competative travel philosophy is to hire only professionals for our travel teams, and seeks to develop our players at higher and "premier-style" levels. No parent is permitted to coach their child at the competative level in BSC. Please visit our Coaches page to learn about our current crop of wonderful professional coaches.
US Youth Soccer Official Age Chart
BSC's age designations are set by US Youth Soccer and BSC does not allow any player to be rostered on its teams that is not in the correct age bracket for that team. "Playing Up" is strictly prohibited in BSC. Next to the age groups are the specific programs available by our club at that age group.
